We learned about vocabulary development and how crucial this is in developing literacy. I had not really taking the time to really think about this. But really vocabularly is crucial. If there is no understanding to words expressed, then learning can be difficult. and
It changed my perspective about teaching and making it inclusive to all of our students. Our classrooms are diverse and as educators we need to be on the cutting edge in order to deliver. This is not to say, we have to know it all but "the take home message is we need to at least try".
Today one of the tools the group presenting presented on was story bird. What was neat about this presentation was that there was a grade 5 student in my midst (my daughter EJ). She logged on and within minutes created a story with the pictures available to her. The story was about "The Girl who fell asleep while waiing for Santa". This tool she proved was easy to use and it is something she would use in her class as well. Please find link to story bird below.
