Blog 5: Experiences to Digital Workshop Cont'd

Still on digital learning. Today we class the groups presented on technology use in our classrooms. One of the concerns that came up was the fear that with all these technologies and screen time, are our students today in danger of eye problems or too much screen time. And are we even going to be able to do paper based work in class. This was worth addressing so we took some time to talk about it.

Question - are children today in danger of being technologically overloaded (more obesity and eye problems from too much screen time?

Answer 1 - Using technology has it's good and bad sides, there has to be a blalance

Answer 2- Talking about it is one thing: but in reality, most schools have a computer lab system that has to be followed -sign out computers, only take it out when its your class' turn - bring it back when your slot time is completed - this ensures no one class have use of it for the whole day

Answer 3 - Parents have a role to play in ensuring that their children do not spend their entire evening after school on computers.

One of the tools we learned about was flipgrid - very easy tool to use - we made our own flip trailers in class. Please see below
